Plogger and Other Random Updates

I started using Plogger to handle my photos. If you click on the pics page, there will be a link to the collections. Unfortunately, there is not a plugin for WordPress yet, but rumor has it someone is working on one. When that happens, it will integrate with my site better.

Other than that, there really isn’t much else going on. Trying to finish all this work and papers before the semester is over. A lot of people have been downloading and using my This Day in History plugin, so I’m excited about that.

I’m going to try and end each post with a movie quote from now on. Why? Because I’m a dork and have nothing better to do.

My First Plugin

I created my first plugin today, thanks to some help in #wordpress. Thanks guys. The plugin is simple, displays links to Wikipedia and BBC to show what happened on the date of that post.

Installation is simple and is explained in the readme.txt file. Any problems or questions, let me know.

Really, What the Fuck is Wrong With America?

This really is sad. First science books having disclaimers, books about the Grand Canyon saying Noah’s flood created it, now IMAX. This is really sad.

IMAX theaters reject film over evolution

CHARLESTON, South Carolina (AP) — IMAX theaters in several Southern cities have decided not to show a film on volcanoes out of concern that its references to evolution might offend those with fundamental religious beliefs.

“We’ve got to pick a film that’s going to sell in our area. If it’s not going to sell, we’re not going to take it,” said Lisa Buzzelli, director of an IMAX theater in Charleston that is not showing the movie. “Many people here believe in creationism, not evolution.”

I wonder whether liberal democracies do not follow an ordained trajectory into the muck, ripening like fruits, having their arteries harden, and falling, plop, to be eaten by birds and snails. (That was a two-animal medico-vegetative ballistic metaphor, not so much mixed as homogenized, almost colloidal. Patent applied for.) I note that the English-speaking countries are doing to themselves exactly what the United States is doing, and the Europeans, though better educated and more cultivated, follow.
