Funny Post From Caleb

I read this at Caleb’s blog and decided to post it here because it was so funny. It’s some guy’s argument that President Whitmore (Bill Pullman) from Independence Day was a Republican based on deleted scenes.

Yes, Whitmore is a Republican, but you?d only know it for sure from watching the director?s cut.

The director?s cut includes a long sequence where we see that Whitmore ignored months of warnings leading up to the aliens? attack. One particularly poignant scene shows Whitmore receiving a daily briefing entitled ?Aliens Determined to Attack US.? Seeing that the briefing is more than one page long, Whitmore decides it?s too long to be bothered with and he deposits it in the trash.

The director?s cut also includes a scene that shows Whitmore in a kindergarten class where he?s first informed of the alien attack. Instead of standing up and finding out what the hell?s going on (as we?d assume ANY president would do), he decides he?s better off waiting for seven minutes until the kids are done reading, then he?ll have plenty of time to decide if he needs to give any important orders or anything.

Then of course there?s the whole epilogue that got cut from the film. That?s where we see that Whitmore decides to blame Saddam Hussein for the alien attack.

?We know that Iraq has interspace weapons technology, (IWT)? Whitmore says. This soon devolves into ?We know Iraq has the PROGRAMS to create interspace technology.? This then further deteriorates into ?We?ll soon find the PEOPLE in Iraq who knew of Iraq?s interspace weapons programs.? And finally, when Whitmore tries to claim that we attacked Iraq because Saddam Hussein merely WANTED to have IWTs, he finally decides to just pretend that invading Iraq had nothing to do with IWT in the first place. It was all about liberating the Iraqi people.

By this time over 1,500 Americans and tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis are dead, but 53% of us vote to reelect him anyway.

The studio decided no audience would ever believe any of this could actually happen, so they ordered the more preposterous segments cut out. Source

very creative, wasn’t it? your comment got screwed up (it was showing weird code and not showing your comment) and so i deleted it. if you had something of incredible importance (or more satire to give me) then try commenting again.
