Netflix Sucks

Netflix is really starting to suck. I used to love their service and recommend it to everyone. Lately they have really dropped the ball. I can’t tell you when the last time I actually got a new release was. It’s been months. There have been so many good movies that have come out that I’ve not been able to see. So that leaves old movies and TV shows on my list for them to ship. They can’t even do that right. A movie will go back and it’ll take them two days for them to ship the next one, even though the Availability for the disc is marked as Now. I’m not talking about two days for me to receive the new disc, I mean that It will take them two days to ship the new one. This happens every single time they ship a new movie over the past month or so. I used to be able to average 5 or 6 movies a week. Now I’m lucky if I get three. Maybe they think I’m watching too many movies. Maybe they are experiencing large growing pains so the customer doesn’t get what they should. Or maybe they just don’t care about the customer. I wouldn’t be surprised if it were all three. I think it’s time to go back to Blockbuster Online.

Are you using your alloted hours of streaming video?

BB Online has just crippled their Total Access plan by only allowing 5 in-store exchanges per month (on the $17.99 – 3 out at a time plan).

If the average movie is 2 hours, then you are getting an additional 10 hours on the plan, compared to Netflix where you get 17 hours (without driving to the store) and it is $1 less per month.

I am a happy Netflix subscriber, I have signed up for and canceled my BlockBuster subscription twice. I doubt I’ll ever go back.

i don’t really stream anything from netflix. The only thing I did stream was The Office. As for the in store exchanges, I won’t ever use them. I re-signed up for the 3 out for $16.99. I still have like 4 or 5 months of 6 free months of netflix left. (I participated in a focus group for them)

Netflix – boo! hiss! Double boos and hisses to the Netflix’s Albuquerque distribution center!

Yeah, I used to be a happy Netflix customer, too but now they need to put me in their focus group because they definitely have some “challenges”.

Seriously, I rented mostly series television from Netflix. I am on the 3 at a time plan. In the last 56 days, I have gotten SIX discs that look like they’ve been rubbed with a nylon scrubber or even some steel wool. All these problem children come from the Albuquerque distribution center, which is the closest one to me. Of course, they are unplayable. The most recent “well loved” arrival was a replacement disc! So I have not one, but TWO discs of the exact same documentary sitting in front of me and both are scratched and unplayable.

I have been a netflix customer for just inside 2 years I concur that netflix new releases service have been shot to hell. My recent experience that prompted me to cancel was that I had 3 movies in my Q that had not even been released weeks prior. In addition they were at the top of my Q and immediately upon release. The movies have now been released for up to 4 weeks and showeing long wait status. I sent Netflix an email describing my service experience and did not even get a response. Netflix has lost their way with customer service and will have to make some changes before I consider going back.

Netflix customer for over 3 years. Yes there are mistakes. They have humans working for them. They also deal with the POST OFFICE. The Post office breaks everything even if it is in good shape when they recieve it. When renting new releases, I have never had an issue if I mail my movie back on Fri, the new release ships out to me on Monday and I recieve it on Tuesday, just like I should. If you use a 30 dollar Walmart dvd player, some of your movies will not play. These movies are used over and over sometimes. Customers don’t always take alot of care of their rentals. Fingerprints, food all over the packaging etc. Netflix ships over 3million discs in a day in the winter months, cut them a break. For the price, even if you get a cracked disc from the post office, it is still a great deal!

Steve, Netflix had 3 distinct opportunities to rectify or respond to what at that time was nothing more than an issue. Their lack of response to the customer is what escalated it from issue to out right complaint. If you are in the business of providing services to the public “you must be capable of responding to the customer” Last I checked the service was not free and they were making profits leaving no excuse for lack of service. If Netflix want’s to continue to ignore it’s customers, it better get used to customers looking for the exit. I am glad to hear your experience is better; obviously that’s not the case for everyone. If I were you I would cross your fingers and your legs.

    Steve says:

Confused as to what they did not “respond” to. I reported my cracked DVD and got a new one in the mail in a day. Great response to me? What would lack of service be? Some like to complain. Maybe you should get back in your car and try to get your movie at another location. Then you could complain about that. Or use the others, their service is sooo much better since they never have the movie you want, you never have the chance of them messing up. You must be right, Netflix has over 7 million customers, so 7 million are wrong and enjoy being ignored by Netflix. I guess your chance of getting that new release would be better suited at Blockbuster. Just remember get their early and wait for one of their 2 copies. Oh, and don’t forget to get it back on time, or you might as well buy it.

Actually, Blockbuster Online has always delivered a new release the day it came out for me. Netflix puts them on very long wait as soon as they are released.

Steve, there is absolutely no reason a customer should not be able to reach their service provider NONE. There was more than sufficient cause on my part and more than sufficient time on their part to make the smallest of gestures. Like say an email, phone call, letter, fax, a credit on the bill even though it was never requested etc..I am tickled pink that your personal service experience has gone great. So was mine for years, but it is evident in Netflix is pissing off their customers. Since I have started paying more attention to what is going on I realize others have also cancelled membership within a similar time frame. If Netflix wants to publish their up to date customer records we can lay this useless relatavistic argument to rest. Until then I will continue to point out the painful truth. Netflix has little to know customer service and cleary could care less. If I were you I would apply to be the company spin doctor for Netflix. Of course that assumes you do not already have it. Blockbuster is #1 captalizing on the strengths of Netflix while avoiding the weekness.

I was a netflix user for two years. Like most people I had great service at first, but eventually the rate at which I was getting movies slowed to a crawl. I was, perhaps, getting 3 movies a month.

So I called them and complained. The first person I spoke to was extremely rude and defensive from the start. She demanded I provide proof that the service was actually slow. I explained I couldn’t provide proof other then the fact that I wasn’t getting movies soon enough ( I mean seriously . . . 3 a month?). She then lists all the movies I recieved and made excuses for each. By the end of this conversation I was even more pissed off then before I called. So I call again and demand to speak to a supervisor.

Eventually I speak to someone else. Like Steve first they said the post office was the problem. I get first class mail all the time from my father (he sends letters the old way believe it or not). His letters travel from two states away and often I’ll get two or three letters before I ever see a new group of netflix movies. I pointed this out to them and this supervisor made some excuse about machines the post office uses being broken, that I should complain about this to the post office, and in order for netflix to look into the matter I’ll need to fill out some report and fax it to netflix.

I told them I wasn’t going to do any such thing. I pay them money for a service which I don’t feel is worth the money. I’m complaining and they are asking me to fix it? The guy responds, “We are looking for partners to fix this problem.” I thought this whole thing was stupid, so I did nothing. The next day . . . the very next day . . . a new group of movies show up in the mail which I had been waiting 2 weeks for. I was given a month free . . . and guess how long it took for them to recieve and send the next group?

It seems to me netflix is a business built on a model which can’t work considering the current economic conditions facing people. As long as netflix could work in the background of a person’s life, when a person isn’t paying attention to it, people thought the service was fine. $15 for movies through the mail? Why not. I mean even the ads on tv played up this in the background quality. “Oh look netflix came in the mail!” Like it’s some kind of gift you are not actually paying for. However as money got tight people started paying attention to the service more and look at what is happening?

People who have spent years with this company are suddenly leaving. The customer service system they have in place is overwhelmed. They even offer cheap alternatives. Watching streaming video? Look if ABC can stream video without requiring me to download some program which I don’t want on my computer then way can’t netflix? Why would I want to sit in front of my computer to watch a movie anyway when I could sit in comfort in my living room?

Netflix has done serious damage to themselves, or at least in my area. I don’t see many people using the service here anymore. A lot of people I meet who used the service now either buy cheap older films and/or watch on-demand video through their cable provider. Some people I know continue their service with netflix just to damage the disks and make everything more expensive for the company. Think about that . . . some people are so pissed off instead of ending the service they would rather destroy the service.

I’ve been with Netflix for 5 years. I’ve been “throttled” all the time but I’ve dealt with it. My problem now is that I keep receiving discs that just won’t play. They don’t look scratched, they aren’t broken, they just won’t play! The disc will just sit in my dvd player and continue to “Load” for forever! And of course, it’s happening with the new releases I’ve been lucky enough to get right away! Is Netflix making their own copies of dvds? The gray disc with white writing sure doesn’t look like the discs I rent at the store! These are the discs that won’t play in either one of my dvd players! I’ve reported them as damaged and they sent another copy out right away that does the same exact thing!! What’s up with all that?? If this keeps up, I’m probably going to finally throw in the towel and cancel my Netflix.

Netflix’s recent move to provide ‘unlimited’ online viewing would have been the coolest thing ever—if it weren’t a lie and a rip off.

That’s right. After you watch your 17 hours of seamless streaming movies, it starts crashing your browser for you. So some folks are not actually GETTING the unlimited hours; false advertisement.

Officially, they’re getting unlimited, technically however, Netflix actually takes measures to prevent it.

I have tracked this since the unlimited thing BEGAN.

Consistently, and every month, after 17 hrs of watching seamlessly… it won’t allow any more watching—it crashes browsers to actively prevent users from the promised ‘Unlimited’.

People should be outraged. Netflix was fine before this, after this, I can’t trust them anymore.

I swear that they installed some measure to prevent me to watching direct in my pc. It used to work fine so I started using it, and then by the month that I downgraded my suscription, I cannot watch movies online anymore. I have tried to call customer service thrice to help me fix this problem and I NEVER got an answer.

The quality is going down, I am thinking in switching to Blockbuster online.

    NETFLIX SUGGESTIONS LINK

This is the ONLY way to email Netflix with anything at all over than missing disk. Send all complaints to this suggestions email.

I told them how terrible the turnaround has become. How much I hate their new ‘New Releases’ section. I clicked through all 102 movies under New Release Thrillers and did not find the 3 actual New DVDs for this week

Not that you will actual get any new release when it comes out. My new release list that is in Short Wait, Long Wait, Very Long Wait is over 20 movies long. Am looking into Blockbuster online or just going back to my local video store.
In Your Queue you cannot even select BLU-RAY or DVD now. You cannot tell what you will be getting anywhere. If they have the movie in Blu-Ray as I asked for but the DVD version is avaiable first, they will just send you that one. I hate you Netflix! I raved for years to everyone I know, and now I am telling the world that you suck !!!!

NETFLIX DOES SUCK!!!!! Funny how a web-based company who send you e-mails when the recieve your movie, ship your movie, lost your movie and marketing etc does not allow you to email them. I had to gppgle ways to email netflix to find an e-mail address fpr them and it wasnot ofcourse custokmer service. Just lke when netflix was fined a while back and had to refund money because they were found guilty of delayingthe scanning in and out of movies to slow the process down, in turn saing them money as it would ultimatly mean hundreds of thousands of sollars a year in shipping if every customer just got a few less movies a year. NETFLIX SUCKS

They have been really good about new releases for some time now – until this week. Three empty queue spaces, two of them for several days, and they didn’t ship me ONE new release, and they are all now in long or very long wait. Not to mention waiting almost two months for The Mist, which they obviously don’t even have, but won’t tell anybody. One more week of this shit, and I’ll drop down to their minimum service, so as to keep the rare titles available, and just head over to the Redbox in my Hannaford supermarket.

Netflix is gone real bad! You have to wait for long time to get new releases. Online Watch option is futile because it doesnt carry any popular movies titles (believe me its trash!!) There are lot of online sites which offer the same contect legally for free. I stopped the service when even regular movie dvd’s started getting shipped from long-distance locations (God knows why) making me wait for like 5 days. SUCKS!

I’m so done with Netflix! They are delaying distribution and the end result is we get less than we paid for or were promised. I think the most interesting aspect (not in a good way) is that they don’t want to even hear the complaints. They provide no way to email them and capture our concerns to address them. They would rather have you go to the trouble of calling them to hear them say that there’s nothing they can do to help. The best thing we can do is stop using them – perhaps they’ll get the message but it seems they don’t care either way. I suppose they aren’t being hit by the economy like the rest of us and don’t see the need to step up. When times get better they’ll wish we hadn’t kicked them to the curb!

Finally hit the “YES” [Are you sure you want to cancel your account?] button. It felt so cathartic. I had been to that page before but never pulled the trigger until this week. Hellboy II was at the top of my queue for 6 months and Netflix blew me off.

5 days Netflix-free and doing well, thanks to a DVR. ROH, Netflix!
