Lately I’ve been trying to do things in my life to make me more healthy. I’ve been drinking less soda and have switched to water and juices. I’ve been eating better, making sure to include plenty of fruit and salads when normally I would have eaten more junk food. I’ve also started to make sure I work out every night, which I wasn’t doing before. I’ve also started taking vitamins, because of my lack of vegetables at dinner time.

It is a lot easier to eat healthier at breakfast and lunch. I can buy healthy things to eat at those meals. My problem is with dinner. Some nights I teach at sylvan and don’t get home until 8:30, which makes cooking a meal that late and close to when I go to bed is undesirable. On nights when I can cook, I don’t. I’m not a cook. At all. While I have tried various recipes, it just isn’t something I like to do. I wish I’d like it. I have a friend who is a chef and I wish I had his passion for cooking. My sister is also an excellent cook, but I don’t think she’d come over every night to cook for me.

I need to find simple, yet healthy, recipes for dinners. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions on where to find some?

After 2 long days of moving and unpacking I’m finally done. It was a tiring ordeal, but it could have been worse. It feels good to be done and have everything set up the way I want. My family was a huge help and I’m very grateful for all they did. Also, my sister Lisa was extremely nice for buying me things for my living room and bathroom. The things she bought look great! I’m just glad it’s all over. Yesterday was my recoup day (and AT&T U-Verse install day) so it’s back at work for me today. For any of my friends that want to know where my new place is, hit me up and I’ll send you the address.

This weekend I’m going to be moving to an apartment at Highway 94 and Jung Station Rd. It’s actually the same apartment complex that my sister and bro-in-law lived in when they first got married. It is right next door to Parrot’s Bar and Grill, which could be dangerous. Not since college have I lived within walking distance of a bar. I’m not looking forward to the actual move, but I’m looking forward to living in the new place.

One thing that will take some getting used to is changing routines. I’m very much a routine guy. I go to the same places, do the same things, shop at the same stores. Of course, I could still go to the normal places and stores, but that means I would be driving much further. Now I have to get used to going to new places. I’m not that big a fan of change. I’ll get used to it. Anyway, if you’re in the neighborhood, give me a call and swing on by.

Wow, I’m a slacker. I didn’t stick with my things I’m thankful for like I wanted to. I’ve just been so busy at work and at home the past few days and I missed a couple. Have no fear though, I do have some to share with you. Here are my 4 this week.

  • The Budweiser flag in college that I wore as a cape and my roommates for telling our neighbors that they rented me from AB for the night and I was called Bud Man.
  • BBQing at the park with my family when I was a kid.  However, I’m not thankful for the time my dad broke his finger on the super death slide.
  • Instructions on the back of David Sunflower Seeds telling you how to eat them.  Why am I thankful for that?  Because I think it’s so funny that people actually need to be told how to eat them.  Funny.
  • Waking up Sunday morning and turning on the TV only to see one of the best Nintendo tie-in movies starring Fred Savage ever made.  (yes, there was only one Nintendo tie-in movie starring Fred Savage).  The Wizard ftw!

I’m going to start a new thing on my blog. Every Thursday I’m going to post 5 things in my life that I’m thankful for. Each day, I’m going to write 5 things. On Thursdays I’m going to post either my 5 favorite of the week or the 5 for that day. Some might be deep and heartfelt, some might be silly and funny. Either way, they all mean a little something to me.  These are the things I’m thankful for today.

  • TBS for still showing Saved by the Bell in the morning after all these years.  Yep, I still catch about 10 minutes of it on most weekday mornings.
  • My sister Lisa for starting our annual Christmas gift prank war.  This year was a truce year, but next year I think I’ll have to start it up again (if you have ideas on what I can do let me know)
  • The Byline app on my iPhone.  I can’t be away from my favorite websites for long.  Byline syncs with Google Reader and delivers all my feeds in a better format than the mobile site for Google Reader.
  • SecretTweet for putting life into perspective.  You think you have it bad?  There are people out there that are worse off.  Just read their tweets.
  • The last 15 minutes of the TV show Six Feet Under.  Probably the most depressing, yet poignant and beautiful, ending to a television series.  Ever.
