Save Big Bird!

Please take some time out to sign the petition to save PBS and NPR. These two stations are the only public stations left. They need your support.

The House is threatening to eliminate all public funding for NPR and PBS, starting with “Sesame Street,” “Reading Rainbow” and other commercial-free children’s shows. Sign our petition to Congress opposing these massive cuts to public broadcasting. Tell your senators and representative:
“Congress must save NPR, PBS and local public stations. We trust them for in-depth news and educational children’s programming. It’s money well spent.”

Don’t Have Grass Roots? Steal Someone Else’s

A Republican running for office couldn’t generate his own grass roots campaign. So what did he do? He stole someone else’s, more specifically, from Howard Dean. One photo was taken at a 2004 Dean for President rally sponsored by the American University College Democrats in Washington, D.C. As many of you are aware, a classified memo was recently disclosed in Great Britain that I believe has serious ramifications for the integrity of the United States Government. Dubbed the ?Downing Street Memo,? but actually comprising the minutes of a meeting of Prime Minister Tony Blair and other top British government officials, the memo casts serious doubt on many of the contentions of the Bush Administration in the lead up to the Iraq war. With over 1,600 U.S. servicemen and servicewomen killed in Iraq, the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, and over $200 billion in taxpayer funds going to this war effort, we cannot afford to stand by any longer. So, I donated some money to one.org and received (will receive) a box of wristbands which have become the new fad for charities and non-profits. I should have 5 to give away. If anyone wants one, I can mail you one or give you one in person. Just leave a comment saying you want one and I’ll get your info. You don’t need to donate money to get one. What you do need to complete though, is their declaration. Send me a screenshot, or link me to a screenshot of the completed form and you shall receive one. If demand is high, I shall donate more money and get some more wristbands, but what would be even better, is if you donated and got your own box of them to give out.

Funny Post From Caleb

I read this at Caleb’s blog and decided to post it here because it was so funny. It’s some guy’s argument that President Whitmore (Bill Pullman) from Independence Day was a Republican based on deleted scenes.

Yes, Whitmore is a Republican, but you?d only know it for sure from watching the director?s cut.

The director?s cut includes a long sequence where we see that Whitmore ignored months of warnings leading up to the aliens? attack. One particularly poignant scene shows Whitmore receiving a daily briefing entitled ?Aliens Determined to Attack US.? Seeing that the briefing is more than one page long, Whitmore decides it?s too long to be bothered with and he deposits it in the trash. Read more
