First off, I am a nonbeliever in the article of clothing called the scarf. In my opion, it serves no function. Does your neck really get so cold that you can’t bear to be outside without it? What really bugs be about them is when I see guys wearing them. Now most are trying to be the trendy Gap guy wearing the scarf, a lot of the times without a coat. Wear a coat and you won’t need the scarf.
Today in my French Revolution class, a girl was wearing a scarf. While I do think this a cute item on girls, it still serves no purpose. Especially since this girl was already wearing a turtleneck. Isn’t that a bit of overkill?
In conclusion, scarves are useless. They are cute on girls, but chances are, I’d think you are cute without them. Please stop wearing them, especially guys.
That is all.
Practicum
I started my practicum at Central High School today. The teacher seems cool. Central is on the North side of town, so is mostly a low income school. They have recently added on to the school and it is huge. It is 3 stories and is built like a maze. I do my first teaching on Feb 28th. The topic: the Cold War. This is pretty much the only topic I didn’t want. Oh well.
Addiction to Television
Hi, my name is Shep. I am NOT addicted to tv. It amazes me how many people are. Sure, I watch television for background noise when I’m doing other things, but I DO NOT base my life around programs like more and more Americans do each day. Am I the only one who thinks that this is ridiculous? Tivo has become the standard for people who can’t watch every single one of their television programs. Tivo the OC tonight, I can’t watch it. Tivo Survivor because I’ll be watching American Idol which is on at the same time. It is horrifying how addicted we as a society have become.
What pulled this little rant from the depths of my mind? Someone came into the computer lab today when I was working. She had a portable television and was watching tv while browsing the net. It is so sad that she couldn’t leave her television to come to class and/or the computer labs.
Random Updates
SMSU played Creighton University last night. In the past, Creighton has always dominated the Bears. A lot has changed since last year though. Many of Creighton’s best players of years’ past graduated. I wasn’t expecting an SMS win, but that is what was delivered. This was the first Bears basketball game I attended this year, and I was surprised at how many of our guys graduated last year as well. The Bears dominated all of first half, playing excellent defense. The second half was typical Bears basketball. They let their lead slip and played some bad defense. They managed to hold onto the lead though and not even their terrible free throw shooting percentage and Creighton’s excellent ability at the 3-point shot could stop the Bears.
The final score was 80-73. Good job Bears.
Worldpress: What is it? Well, it’s wordpress users across the globe. Check it out here, it’s really cool.
