I’m very tired of seeing all these ads and one-liners in the press about how Obama and the Democrats are tax and spend and will raise your taxes. If you would look at the tax plans for both candidates, it’s clear that Obama’s benefits 90% of Americans where as McCain’s favors the richest of the rich. He still believes in the trickle-down theory of economics, which has been disproved over and over. Just look at the last 8 years. Those are the same tax policies that Bush implemented. McCain even talks about how Palin stands up to wasteful spending, yet hired a lobbyist to get millions of dollars in earmarks for her town, some that even John McCain opposed in the Senate. She claims she was against the infamous “bridge to nowhere” yet she was for it, accepted money for it, before she was against it. She secured money for a multi-million sports complex when her town didn’t even have proper sewage treatments. On top of that, the complex went well over budget and the people of her town wound up paying more and more for it. That, my friends, is tax and spend. Don’t believe the lies put out by Rove and the Republican party.
I would also like to ask you all to donate to the Obama campaign. If you really want real change, you need to fight back against the smears and lies put out by the campaign. Unfortunately, the most successful way to do this is via TV ads, which costs a lot of money. So, whatever you can give to the campaign, $5, $10, $100, whatever you can, please donate. Be a part of history.
The Magic is Lost
When I was growing up there seemed to be magic specials on TV all the time. I would say every couple months there would be some sort of magic show on television. Sometimes it was a solo performer, such as David Copperfield, and sometimes it was a group effort, such as Worlds Greatest Magic. I wonder whatever happened to magic shows. Every few years David Blane comes out with a special, but he seems to be the only one. Chris Angel has the show Mind Freak, but that’s not the traditional magic that grasped my attention as a kid. You didn’t need tricks with a lot of blood and gore when I was growing up. It can’t be that there isn’t a market for magic specials. Ask a kid if they want to see a magic trick and they will get excited and shout YES!. They will be glued to the TV just as I was when I was growing up. Is the lack of specials because of network’s catering the the bread and butter of marketing demographics, the teen and 20’s crowd? That may be it, after all, a kid can’t go out and buy a 6 pack of Budweiser American Ale or buy a Ford truck. It’s kind of sad that prime time TV has become what it has. Where has all the magic gone?
Plan for Change
While John McCain and Sarah Palin lie about all of their changes, Barack Obama is sitting back and telling the country what he plans for change. Take a look at his new 2 minute ad. It’s simple, yet powerful. If you are tired of the lies that the Republicans are spewing (and they are lies, the media has called them out on every lie forcing them to change their story), then get involved and help out the Obama campaign. Make calls, pass out literature, or donate. Do whatever it takes.
Lifestreaming with Sweetcron
Yesterday I found some really cool software called Sweetcron. What it does is gathers all the feeds you add and displays it in a variety of ways. It’s a self-hosted lifestream. There are a few themes out there already, helping you display it in a variety of ways. Creating themes isn’t the easiest, especially if you don’t know code, but hopefully as the software catches on more themes and better documentation will become available. Right now I’m displaying my major feeds in one of the default templates. I still need to figure out how to style various blog posts and delicious links to my liking, but it’s on it’s way. I don’t think I’ll abandon WordPress for my main blog (Sweetcron has a built in blogging system) but I will import the feeds. Check out the piece of shep lifestream.
Too Many Sites, Too Little Time
I’ve not been updating this site much lately, besides the two posts over the weekend. Things have just been really busy for me. Busy at work and busy at home. With last week being the RNC, Political Jackass was taking most of my time from me. This also means that The Costanza Experiment has suffered in updates (the experiment is ongoing, I assure you) and The Technology Classroom. I’m trying to get some help on Political Jackass to take some of the pressure off me to update. I’ve got one person signed up and I’m hoping for more. If you are interested, drop me a line.
Hopefully this week I’ll be able to work on The Technology Classroom some more. I really like the idea of this site and am looking forward to what comes of it. I plan on updating the site with several new articles and even install some forum software on the site.
I know I shouldn’t stretch myself so thin with all the website, but I’m very passionate about technology and with this being an election year, I think it’s important to update Political Jackass as much as possible.
