Fox News is Racist

I really don’t understand how the American public is letting Fox news get away with their smearing of Obama.  People on the channel have called him Osama, equated his fist-touch with his wife as a terrorist gesture, said he’s Muslim, and are now being completely racist by calling his wife, yes, wife his baby mama.  This is not only disrespecting her, but also their two children. The slang term baby mama refers to a woman who is the mother of a child by a man who is not married to her and has no intentions of marriage.  That is not the Obama family in the least.  Don Imus didn’t get away with calling basketball players “nappy-headed hoes,” and rightfully so, so why should Fox News (and I use the term news lightly) get away with things like this?  You know that if someone on the left said something about Bush or McCain there would be a demand for an apology and that person would be fired or would resign.  What if the left started putting up images questioning McCain’s mental health (the very thing that Bush did in the 2000 primaries to defeat McCain)?

The American public needs to finally speak out against Fox and their propaganda machine.  If they keep going unchecked they will keep making up lie after lie.

You’re Tearing Us Apart

Hillary really is losing it. By it I mean her mind, the small amount of respect many people have left for her, the country, her future in politics, etc. Obama won North Carolina last night by a wide margin. Hillary barely won Indiana. I mean barely. If you ask her though, she’s still the favorite candidate for the country. All the states that voted for Obama don’t matter. Her slim victory (by just thousands of votes) in Indiana is a mandate. CNN reported that 1 in 10 voters in Indiana were Republicans voting for Hillary (thanks to Rush Limbaugh) because she is the weaker candidate. Take out those votes, and she would have lost Indiana. She really hasn’t got a clue.

Hillary needs to drop out. Now. She continues to hurt her party, run negative campaigns, lies, and now apparently, tries to buy Super Delegate votes. It’s time for her to face the music, do what’s best for the party and the country, and end her run. I don’t think she will though. I think she’d rather see John McCain win the election, that way she can have a shot again in 2012. She doesn’t care about the country, the people, or the party. She cares about herself, and that’s it. Super Delegates need to end this now and throw their support behind a candidate that can and will win. Hillary Clinton is an embarrassment to the party and the country.

Bush Censorship

Bush continues to be a shining light for democracy and freedom. Now he’s censoring information about abortion on health websites. It never ceases to amaze me how religious this moron is and is so against abortion because it’s wrong but has no problem killing thousands of people for oil money. I really do hate this man. Might as well call us China with his spying on the American people and censoring public information because it goes against his beliefs. Here’s the article from Wired:

A U.S. government-funded medical information site that bills itself as the world’s largest database on reproductive health has quietly begun to block searches on the word “abortion,” concealing nearly 25,000 search results.

Called Popline, the search site is run by the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Maryland. It’s funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development, or USAID, the federal office in charge of providing foreign aid, including health care funding, to developing nations.

The massive database indexes a broad range of reproductive health literature, including titles like “Previous abortion and the risk of low birth weight and preterm births,” and “Abortion in the United States: Incidence and access to services, 2005.”

But on Thursday, a search on “abortion” was producing only the message “No records found by latest query.” Continue Reading…

Santos and Obama

I’ve been noticing a lot of similarities between Congressman Matt Santos from TV’s The West Wing and Senator Barack Obama and have been wanting to write about it. The similarities between the two candidates are uncanny. They both have to overcome race issues, take on prominent Democratic frontrunners, and a moderate Republican. Even in the TV show, the Democrats were torn all the way up to the National Convention when Santos was finally declared the official nominee. Is that going to happen with Mr. Obama and Hillary Clinton? Time will tell. My sister sent me a link to this video and I realized I wasn’t just reaching with these thoughts. Santos was based on Obama and his Senate campaign.

Ideology and Interests

I was watching an old George Carlin comedy special on HBO Comedy tonight and I began thinking about someone I used to work with when I worked at Domino’s in high school and college. I worked with this guy for about 5 years and got to know him really well. One thing that we both had in common is that we were both huge George Carlin fans. This always surprised me because he was a bit conservative and typically voted for Republicans. If you have never seen George Carlin do stand up or read one of his books, he is a really liberal guy. He hates government (Republicans and Democrats), he hates the Right Wing, hates religion, and is all about the freedoms that make this country great. Maybe it’s just me, but in order for me to like something, I have to relate to it. Could my friend have related to it even though Mr. Carlin makes fun of the very things that my friend believes in?

I once knew a guy who was the same way with music. He listened to a lot of hip hop and one of his favorite rock bands was Rage Against the Machine. They were a really liberal band, some might even say socialistic, yet this guy loved them. Sure, you can enjoy the sound, but if you don’t enjoy the lyrics, how could you enjoy the music as a whole? I know I don’t listen to music who’s lyrics I’m not particularly fond of. One might, and rightfully so, argue about the lyrics in hip hop and if you listen to it, you’re supporting the content. There’s no argument for me there. Yes, there are songs I’ve enjoyed that have lyrics I might not necessarily agree with. Heck, my favorite rapper is 2pac and I know he’s had songs I don’t agree with on content, but he’s also had songs in which I can fully stand behind the content. Typically, if I don’t relate to the music in any way, or don’t like the message in the music, I’m not going to listen to it.

So I guess my question is, what makes people enjoy things that usually go against their ideologies? Why does my conservative friend like Mr. Carlin when Mr. Carlin stands up (pun intended) against everything that most conservatives value? There’s no simple answer to this. Just a thought I had while watching the very funny Mr. Carlin.
