If you’ve used the contact form to try and get in touch with me over the past couple weeks, I’ve probably not gotten the email. There is something weird going on with the php mail () command and emails generated by the contact form (or WP) aren’t getting sent out. So if you tried to contact me or need to contact me you can always email me at mike at mikeschepker.com Hopefully this will be solved soon.

EDIT: Everything seems to be working fine now. If you contact me and I don’t respond, let me know, but all emails from the comment form and contact form should be working now.

I was browsing my stats and noticed an incoming link to my theme. Always curious as to what kind of sites used my theme I checked it out. I won’t provide the link here because the site I found was disgusting. The site is supposed to be an alternative “news” site but really was nothing more than a racist and bigoted site that talks about “niggers”, “kikes”, “evil Methodists”, and “fags.” Reading the titles of these posts made me want to throw up, and the actual posts and comments were worse. I guess the drawback to releasing a theme is you have no say in what kind of site decides to use it. I, for one, am disgusted by it’s use on this hate speech site.

EDIT: Just an update, I contacted the site’s host, DreamHost and they said they support free speech. This is understandable. I, however, doubt it has anything to do with free speech and more to do with them making money from a client. That’s just how DH operates. Even if the hate speech can incite hate crimes (which, if you look at the wikipedia entry posted in the comments by Mike, actually has happened). This lead me to post some terms in which I explain I have no affiliation with the content on sites using my theme. Kind of an obvious thing, but I just want to cover my bases.

I haven’t updated in quite a while because I really haven’t had anything to say or blog about. Nothing new is really happening in my life right now. Kind of boring, I know. Anyway, a new version of PhoenixBlue theme is available for download. It’s just a few minor bug fixes. Took me a while to port the fixes over from PhoenixTheme to PhoenixBlue, not because it was difficult, but because I was beeing lazy and had no time.

My modified version of PhoenixTheme is now available for download. It is called PhoenixBlue. You can download it from here: PhoenixBlue theme. Here is a screenshot:

I was browsing StLToday.com and noticed a couple of things. First off, there is a new design. I haven’t been there in a while, so I’m not sure how fresh this new design is. It’s not bad, but I liked their old design better. What can I say, I love blue. The second thing I noticed, while browsing Gordo’s Tip Sheet, is that all their blogs are running WordPress. Check out their blogs. This is a wise decision. Their old blogs had long, crusty URLs, but now with WP they are short and sweet. I don’t know what their old system was like, but I’m sure it’s easier for the columnists as well. Good job St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
